Simply Stylist Event

 

 

  

 The Simply Stylist event at the Dana Hotel on Saturday was a great chance to shop and listen to words of wisdom from multiple fashion guru’s! Every topic the women glazed over was up every blogger’s alley. Corri McFadden from E-Dropoff and Jacey Duprie THE Damsel in Dior blogger, were among the few to share their knowledge on how they became successful in their fields. I’m feeling very enlightened and inspired after listening to these women speak!

Yup, I met Francois Nars

 Let’s face it, you try a couple of other brands of mascara here or there, but things like blush and lip color are typically your usual favorite formula. Everyone has their favorite go to brand of makeup. What’s my favorite? You guessed it– Nars. From the brilliant orgasm blush to my new favorite satin lip stick in luxembourg, I am addicted.

The eclectic color palette that makes up the collection of blush and lipsticks, is what draws me (and thousands of women) to Nars. The colors are suiting for any skin tone, and are highly pigmented to last all day (even after eating!). So, it was only natural that when Stephanie found out about Francois Nars visiting Nordstrom on Michigan Ave, that she signed us up right away to meet the man himself.

It was my first time getting my makeup done fully by an artist, and let alone with all Nars products. From moisturizer to eyeliner, I was dolled up and ready to meet the founder. After picking up a few goodies they used on us, we headed over to pick up the extravagant Nars book that Stephanie purchased to get signed by Francois himself. A great coffee table book for fashionista’s like herself, the book was half the size of me.

We waited in line and as we approached the front , we both became a little starstruck. There he was–seemingly friendly and humble. I overheard him answering questions for Stephanie and say,

“The names of my blushes all represent passion. Madly, Amour and Seduction are a few. And Orgasm…well, that’s a beautiful thing.”

Long Weekend Essential’s

Spring break is almost here, and I’m going away for a short weekend in San Diego. All the excitement fizzles when I think about packing my bag. If theres anything more stressful than packing a bag for a week, its for a short weekend. You don’t wanna bring too much and then you risk looking like “that girl” but you also don’t want to under pack incase everyone decides to hit the town more than the times you expected. Here’s how I make it simple.

 

Make up Essentials  

This is the easiest category to over pack in! You don’t need your Naked Urban Decay palette for the week, your eyes can do with a quick gold shimmer. If you don’t usually wear THAT color lip stick, then don’t pack it! Simple is better, and leaves your bag feeling lighter. In my makeup bag:

• Tinted Moisturizer – Hello Flawless Benefit
•  Blush / Bronzer Duo by Nars
•  Mascara by Tarte (bamboo bottle)
•  Mini Vaseline (my new favorite)
•  A Versatile Lip stick that can be worn from night to day –Vegas Bomb by Mac is one of my favorites
• Ponds Makeup Removing Wipes

Clothing Necessities  

Packing light is essential, but one must be ready for anything. Incase of a spur of the moment fancy dinner, make sure to have a dress on hand. It is essential to have items that can be all mixed together to make multiple outfits. Clothing Necessities in my suit case:

• One pair of jeans 
• One pair of shorts
• 2 Tank tops (my colors: red, grey, indigo to mix and match)
• A fancy dress
• Casual Dress
• Flats
• High heels
• Statement necklace  <—–This can make a simple outfit into a fabulous one.

Purse Requirements  

• A snack : Instant miso packets, green tea packets, almonds, pretzels are some of my favorites.  
• My camera, Canon Rebel t3i
• Wallet with cash (sometimes it’s hard to remember paper when we are so used to plastic)
• Head phones
• A good book
